Good Hope FM Christmas

It’s A GOOD HOPE FM CHRISTMAS!

Contemporary music has always played a huge role in the celebration of Christmas – for years Bing Crosby’s ‘White Christmas’ was the biggest-selling single of all time. In more recent years John & Yoko celebrated world peace with ‘Happy Xmas’ (War Is Over) and Band-Aid raised millions for starving people in Africa with ‘Don’t They Know It’s Christmas’. These are just a few examples of how pop music has played a positive role at Christmas time.

Now, Cape Town’s premier radio station, Good Hope FM, has rallied some of Cape Town’s leading artists and invited them to make their own personal contribution to Christmas through music. The result is stunning beautiful and heart-warming. There are new versions of old festive chestnuts – plus brand-new compositions – all performed in a joyous Christmas spirit – celebrating Christmas …and Cape Town.

The beauty of Christmas meets the beauty, peace and good-will of Christmas in this truly wonderful collection of songs by some of Cape Town’s finest – made all the more special by the fact that Good Hope FM is sharing this spirit and love with all the people of Cape Town …all those who live here – and all those who visit from all over the world.

We wish you truly Happy Christmas!

EDITH – Climate Change – Getting HOTTER!

October 20, 2009 Leave a comment

EDITH is changing the climate on her own – she’s just getting Hotter!

EDITH is the name of a new South-Easter blasting out of the Cape. A session singer of note, EDITH has sung on other people’s hits as a solid grounding in studio performance. She also appeared ‘live’ as back-up singer to superstars such as Josh Groban, Diana Ross, Jonathan Butler, Jimmy Dlulu and Judith Sephuma.

Her debut CD is ‘WICKED’, which has already spawned radio hits in ‘Love Is Wicked’, ‘Getting Hot’ and ‘Come On A-My House’ – and very soon EDITH will be filming her first music video.

EDITH – she’s young, gifted & black …(and did we mention ‘wicked’!?)

CHARL STONE – ‘n Nuwe Geur

October 13, 2009 Leave a comment

The field is over-crowded with all the bokke – and bokkies – but here comes the new challenger!

CHARL STONE – a policeman from George is about to rock the ranks of nouveau-Afrikaans …

Recorded in partly in a trailor midway between Oudtshoorn and George, and also at CapeTown Sound in Woodstock,

Charl’s debut CD certainly does bring a new flavour to new Afrikaans music.

Skitterend production brings a shimmering quality to this recording, and Charl emerges as a cut-above-the-rest …with a clear, melodic contemporary vocal.

He wrote or co-wrote many of the songs, and is just bursting to get out there and take on the field …

A sprinkling of songs in English join a strong body of future-Afrikaans-classics …you have been warned …’Miljoene Myle’, ‘En Sy Se’ en ‘As Ons Vergeet’ join braaivleis ‘n beach rockers like ‘Party By Die See’.

Hou vas!

Kind regards,

Patric van Blerk
